The mission and vision of the Center for Public Art is to provide programming and resources in the form of public events, happenings, public art, site-specific sculpture, performance and exhibition as an educational resource and creative outlet for Vermont communities. Its members partner with artists, nonprofit organizations, galleries and art centers to develop strong and lasting public art works with direct community involvement. CPA strives to participate in and promote the importance of critical dialog regarding public art locally, nationally and globally. Variety in conceptual approaches include public art in the outdoor sphere, interior installations, and time-based projects. Project emphasis will be placed on works that have a critical interdisciplinary component and relate to the landscape, and current environmental, socio-cultural and economic climates.
Center for Public Art is actively curating a two year exhibition in the Sculpture Garden at the Vermont Arts Council on State Street in Montpelier.
CPA will curate, consult and be a strong advocate for public art in all its forms both near and far.
